an unforgetable day

8/15是孩子们暑假的最后一天。文君姐妹要奖励绮绮，带着孩子们去餐馆吃饭，然后去公园玩。感谢神放有爱心的家人，姐妹和朋友们在我们身边。

上周六(8/13)一早，教会组织带孩子们去一个７５英里外的河上划船。我和绮绮，喜喜划一只小船，凡凡跟年青的青少年牧师，师母（美国人） 划一只船。那里的风景很美，很象史家山里的河滩，只是水深一些，可以划船。也有很浅的地方。河的两旁都是树林。好些树很长很长，而且笔直的，是很好的木材。
岸边有时有巨大的石头，河水流动，倒映在石头上，一晃一晃的，很美丽。还有天空的飞鹰，时不时地从上空飞过，蓝天，绿树，碧水，真是令人不由地赞叹上帝所造的万物的奇妙和美丽。我们一队人共有１４只船。我在很后面。我的力气最小，划在最后。才划了１／３，我就没力气了。Daniel 但以理是一个、美国大学生。他常来我们教会帮忙教小孩子。 但以理 和雨晴一直在我们旁边，每次我们搁浅了，撞到岸边的泥里了，他们就过来帮忙。 看到我们划不动了，他们主动提出来拖着我们的船划。 我很感谢神让但以理这么有爱心来帮助我们。等我休息片刻后，我们就又开始自己划。如果没有绮绮 我一个人根本划不了那么远。后来但以理 和雨晴又来拖了我们一程。


约定的是划３英里，到一个桥下休息，吃午饭，然后由牧师给６个１０几岁的孩子们洗礼。绮绮也是其中一个。之前问她为什么想受洗， 她说:＂我信上帝，我也信耶稣。就应该受洗。应该问的是: 为什么不受洗? "

等我们到休息地时，大家都已吃过饭，休息过了。就在等绮绮。建良和文斌也在那里等我们。他们没有划船。文斌是从犹他洲来俄亥俄洲做暑假研究的，听说绮绮要受洗，专程赶过来观看。（也是他因着在主里的爱心，自己向银行贷款再借钱给我们钱，帮建良还掉信用卡的债; 现在我每个月付一笔钱给他，只到还清。）

因有好些人中途赶来看受洗，也想划船，我们就把船让给他们划了。
之后，有一个姐妹请我们去她家吃晚饭，庆祝接受洗礼，表明她愿意一生跟随耶稣的心志。

傍晚６:３０我们吃完饭回家。一整天都天色晴朗，不冷也不热。到晚上７:３０，突然变天， 下起冰雹来。第二天，我们从牧师那里得知当晚在洲府印第安那波利澌的洲立集会上，有快速的飓风，刮倒了一个棚子，当场压死４个人，还有1个抢救不成，死在医院; 伤了很多人。让人震惊，人实在是不能掌控自己的生命。我们活着的美一天，都要好好珍惜。

奇妙的耶稣

这个月，经历了许多神奇妙地回应我的PRAYERS的事。
7/22: I got admitted to start my PhD program as a part time student at Purdue. It is exciting. But I don't have money to pay for the tuition. I prayed for God to provide a way for me. On 7/28, I received a check of $1700 from bank of America for Property Tax Overage. It was totally an amazing gift from God.

Beautiful Spring

Early spring, flowers start to bloom everywhere, in the front yard, by the streets, and on Campus. The heart shaped flower is very delicately designed. It is called "Bleeding Heart". God's creations are amazingly wonderful.

Canal, Solar House, Windmill, Fireworks -- Celebrating Independence Day

July 2: we visited Delphi Canal Festival and learned how schools were run in rural areas in 1800s. It very much resembled what we saw in the "Little House on the Prairie" movie series. We learned how bricks were made. Joy bought one red brick home. We learned how glass jewels were made and how yarns were made. It was a fun trip. (Delphi is a small town about 30 minute's drive away from where we live). There used to be a functional Canal that went all the up to Lake Erie.

In the evening, we went to Purdue Campus to visit the Solar House. It is very interesting to see what a future house might look like. The Solar House tour only lasted about 30 minutes. The coolest part I learned is that you can turn on and off all your solar-powered devices in your home with a computer online application.

Then we went to a little town 30 miles north of where we live called "Fowler" or "the Windmill Town".
We were looking for the recycling station to see a blade of deserted Windmill. (My coworker gave me this information). We were lost and a police came to guide us there. The kids were amazed to see the real size of a blade. It is humongous.

7/5: All 5 of us went to watch Independence Day Firework over the walk-over bridge. I am very glad that Jianliang went with us. Joy took some picture of the fireworks. It turned out to be like some kind of painting.

Little House on the Prairie

June 2011: I was so busy at work for the whole month, I had no break, no time off. In the evening, I went to a nearby park or Joy's school's playground to play with the kids. And we watched many videos of the "Little House on the Prairie" series. I skimmed through a few of the books. The kids loved Laura's experiences. I think they got some history lesson this way as well.

Joy came out of mistake

May 2011: I misread the clock and we were at church one hour early on a Sunday in May. So I took the kids to visit the beautiful spring Purdue Campus. Joy started busy climbing up and down the big trees on the Memorial Mall right outside my office. I never realized that she like climbing tree so much. That morning God opened my eyes to see that how beautiful and lovely the kids are, just as the trees and flowers He created. I remembered how terribly worried and how hard I cried each time when I found out that I was pregnant with a child back in Utah. What a fool am I! If I had accepted the gifts from God gladly, life would be easier for me during those years.

It's hard to believe that one year passed by since I last posted to update my journey!
